e-verifyOn September 28, 2012, President Obama signed into law a bill that reauthorizes E-Verify.

E-Verify is the government’s voluntary, Web-based electronic eligibility verification program offered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), along with the Social Security Administration (SSA). E-Verify allows companies to compare employee information taken from the Form I-9 against records kept in DHS and SSA databases. Government contractors and sub-contractors are mandated to use E-Verify through executive order.
